Space: Less is More

Space is more valuable than not space. With space you are able to create. One can use space to invent, to research, to discover, and to create. Less is indeed more, those of us in the Linux world can certainly agree on that, but there is more to it.
In a home you can always use more space, the trouble is we store so much of what we may or may not need, it eats up all our space and then we say we want more. So what then is the solution? I say get less after all less is indeed more.

Until next time, walk good.

Ainsley vs. Ainsley

I have come to the conclusion that in order to truly succeed it is ourselves that we must first overcome. Nothing new being stated here, but to actually realize it in a real way makes the world of a difference. Today I won the race, no I did not place first and my time was no where near a world record, however, it was my best. I ran and I won, I beat me, I overcame.

Until next time, walk good.

The Beautiful Things

On my way back from a recent trip to a metropolitan city I was cruising at twilight. The speed of the vehicle the lighting of the sky, the bending of the branches all gave way to a spectacular view, no, not one of nature this time, but rather, one that was man made. An architectural beauty caught my eye, it was only for a moment, but long enough to register and remain until this day in the cerebral. What was amazing is the thought that perhaps, the combination of wind bending the branches of trees, the speed at which I was traveling, the light from the evening sky etc. makes me believe that it was a unique event, never seen before nor will be ever again. The opportunity may come, but will the experience be had? So what now you may ask, I saw a thing of beauty that no doubt was a true joy to behold.
Then it all became clear, an epiphany of sorts and then the question. What if we lived our lives looking for the beautiful things? The beautiful things in nature, in our physical environment and in each other. No not necessarily the superficial (even though "a thing of beauty is a joy to behold") but rather, beautiful character and beautiful spirit. Can you imagine how wonderful life would be if we really focused on the "The Beautiful Things".
Until next time, walk good!

The Departed

It seems that at my current stage in the journey of life, I can't help but notice the passing of others. As is the norm at birth you really don't have much to think about, life is good and it will always have been the good old days when you started. Then kindergarten, followed by primary school, high school, undergrad...I feel like I may be dating myself here, however, you get what I mean, I assume.

Now, yes now, you recognize the names of the departed, some you knew or at least felt like you did especially if what they had to offer had an emotional effect on you, whether it made you laugh, cry, think about it or it just affected you in some way or another. In the end it is true, the fact is we are not here to stay, this is a transient life. All in all the message is clear, every moment, second, minute hour that we are alive is precious and this we should keep in the forefront of our minds while we live. Every interaction, every word spoken, the sports or games we play, the social activities we engage in, our intellectual and professional endeavors should all be given our all, simply because when the time comes to join the departed we need to be able to say like Frank, "I did it my way" and hopefully it would have been the way designed by your maker.

I know it has been a while, and who knows when it will be again? Until next time, walk good.
